Organisation: Safe Passage International

The project: With a pan-European presence and a remit to advocate for safe routes for refugees, Safe Passage International has a unique set of opportunities and challenges. I worked with the teams across the UK, France and Greece as well as with Young Leaders and Experts by Experience to reimagine safe routes for all and, from there, to reimagine organisational strategy.

Impact:

  • Beginning with a whole-organisation workshop (co-facilitated with the lovely Pat Joseph), we used futures thinking tools to think about a world where safe routes were open to all.
  • A follow-up series of small group sessions then enabled an exploration of the different contexts that each part of the organisation works in, and what that might mean for a coherent strategy that looks different across a range of settings.
  • Based on the workshop findings, I articulated an overall Theory of Change which identified ways in which the organisation could leverage its unique legal expertise whilst building on its work to centre the voices and ideas of young people with lived experience of seeking sanctuary.
  • At the same time, we articulated a number of long-term strategic objectives across the Safe Passage group that were aligned to their strengths and their external environments.
